Shnatsel's Sketches

Here’s another concept sketch that was ultimately scrapped: an illustration for Shakespeare’s “The Phoenix and the Turtle”.

There was a contest of illustrations for that poem; I’ve looked through existing entries, concluded that they’re own pretty boring and decided to roll my own.

Didn’t get far before a wild bdz appeared and posted this. I figured that whatever I can come up with pales in comparison and scrapped my submission (the poem ain’t particularly inspiring anyway).

Of course, bdz’s work has ultimately won the contest.
